Ban on cinema shooting in Ooty - 3 month season from April to June

With the onset of summer season, the Horticulture Department has banned cinema shooting in Ooty for 3 months. The Nilgiris district has numerous parks, dams, meadows, valleys and scenic spots. Thus, for the last 50 years, various cinema films have been shot in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Especially in areas like the Botanical Garden, Boat House, Coonoor Sims Park where song scenes are filmed.

Cinema shooting in Ooty is banned only during the summer months of the year. This year too, cinema shooting has been banned for three months from April 1 to June 31. According to horticulture officials, the number of tourists visiting Ooty will increase from April. The number of tourists visiting the botanical garden in particular will increase many times over. 

Giving permission to shoot in the park at such times would cause various inconveniences not only to the crew but also to the tourists. Therefore, in view of this, shooting is prohibited for 3 months. Tourists can walk around the park without any hindrance, '' they said.
