Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl for allegedly gang-raping a Trinamool party executive on her birthday. Brajgopal Kola (21) is the son of Samar Kola, a Gram Panchayat member from Hanskali in Nadia district of West Bengal. A member of the Trinamool Congress, he celebrated his birthday a few days ago. He then called a 14-year-old girl from the same area.
He also celebrated his birthday with them. Brajgopal Kola and his friends, who were drunk, poured wine on the girl. They later gang-raped the girl. Subsequent rapes caused the girl to bleed profusely. The girl, who went home, died the next morning. The parents, who were shocked by the sudden death of their daughter, questioned Brajgopal.
He warned that the girl's body should be cremated without anyone knowing. As the son and administrator of the political leader, the girl's body was cremated in the same area for fear of his intimidation. Nearly 7 days later, the girl's family lodged a complaint with the Hanskali police station yesterday demanding the arrest of the culprits.
Police have since launched a serious investigation and arrested Brajgopal Kola and his friends. The police official said, "We received the complaint seven days after the incident. The girl's body has already been cremated by her family. 376 (2) (g) (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code against the perpetrators involved,
The case was registered under sections 302 (murder), 204 (concealment of evidence) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pokcho) Act. Some of the perpetrators of the gang rape and the crematorium worker who cremated the girl's body have gone into hiding. We have only arrested Prajgopal Kola and 4 of his friends. '
