Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Hindi should be used as the lingua franca instead of English. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Chidramaiah has condemned this. He said in a Twitter post that since the BJP came to power in the Union, action has been taken to make Hindi the national language.
BJP's claim that Hindi is the national language, claiming that one country is one language, is against the federal philosophy. Gujarati is the mother tongue of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. So why pretend to be a slave to the Hindi language? Born in the state of Gujarat, Gandhiji was the epitome of multilingual culture. At the same time why did Amit Shah, who was born in Gujarat, become the originator of Savarkar's way? States including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal do not recognize India as the unified language of the country.
What Amitsha has said is a betrayal of his mother tongue. Therefore, Union Minister Amit Shah should not speak without such responsibility. As one of the 6.5 crore Kannadas in the state of Karnataka, I strongly condemn Amit Shah's claim that Hindi should be the connecting language of the states. Thus he posted.
